During this temporary closure, telephone calls will be forwarded to Dr. Doig’s cell phone. Patients with ocular emergencies will continue to be seen on a case-by-case basis after a telephone consultation with Dr. Doig to determine the level of risk to their vision versus the risk of community spread of coronavirus. Patients who are experiencing blurred vision, pain or redness in the eyes, or any other worrisome eye health problem are invited to call 403-333-3353 and speak with Dr. Doig about their symptoms.
Similarly, patients with products on order can call and speak with Dr. Doig to arrange a time to pick up their new eyeglasses or contact lenses. Contact lens replacement orders can be done the same way. Patients who need frame adjustments or repairs can also call and speak with Dr. Doig to arrange for this to happen.
As we journey together through this difficult crisis, I encourage everyone to take whatever steps are necessary to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. These include:
- Modifying your business hours and services
- Abstaining from interactions and gatherings in groups
- Maintaining a safe social distance of 2 meters
- Practicing proper and frequent hand washing
- Self isolating after travel
- Self isolating if you experience cough, fever, sore throat, etc.
Since it is impossible to eliminate all risk of transmission, and since almost all the work we do in eye care requires close interaction within the 2 meter safe social distance, and often requires personal contact, we cannot guarantee that there will not be transmission of an offending virus in our eye care interactions. Therefore, we have decided that the best expression of our caring concern for our patients is to temporarily close our clinic until the risk of community transmission is under control.
